Welcome to the new official website of the Cyprus Pumas RFC

The Puma's have another exciting year ahead as we are now entering the 2008 - 2009 Season. Training has now started, a new coach has joined, valuable training equipment has arrived and a lot of work has been done to promote the Pumas to greater success over the coming season.

We are still awaiting match fixtures from the Turkish RFU but we have been informed that 2 extra teams have joined the league so there will be more games for the supporters this season. We are hoping to host touring sides from the UN and UK teams and work is still ongoing to organize a competition at the end of the season and a number of UK clubs have shown a huge interest.

 At the beginning of last season people were asking 'Who are the Pumas?'

We had no money, no playing kit, no website, few supporters and dismissed by the Turkish teams as having no chance in the new league.

At the end of the 2007 – 2008 Season everyone in Northern Cyprus and Turkey knew who we were!! Home games averaged 600 supporters, it seamed as though everyone in North Cyprus was wearing Pumas T-shirts & merchandising, local Newspapers and magazines were writing regular articles on the team, players were getting stopped in the street, a youth Academy has been launched and is going from strength to strength, our website has had over 70,000 visits since October 2007 when it was launched.

Simple, Rugby isn’t just a game; it’s a way of life!! It brings communities together, creates bonds & friendships which lasts for life. The Cyprus Pumas are truly an International side come together in the true spirit of Rugby. Our team is from is made of players & coaches from Cyprus, Turkey, England, France, Sri Lanka, Iran, India, Georgia, South Africa. We hope to add to this list over the coming years.
